Mae Jemison

@therealdougefresh was right. “Everybody loves a star,” and Mae Jemison is as bright as Sirius.

[STAR] A standout from the Windy City, she basically double majored in Chemical Engineering and African & Afro-American Studies from Stanford University. Barely whetting her appetite for knowledge, she continued on to Cornell University where she devoured medical school like Galactus consuming a planet.

An overachiever, Mae Jemison is as nice with languages as Roxanne Shanté is with the mic. Don’t believe me? A polyglot, Mae Jemison can bust a rhyme in Russian, Swahili, and Japanese. After completing her medical residency at UCLA, she spent two years working as a Medical Officer in the Peace Corp in Sierra Leone and Liberia.

After returning to LA, she worked as a physician and attended graduate level engineering classes. I kid you not! Clearly the Earth had no more knowledge left to be absorbed, so Mae Jemison made the very logical decision to join NASA and was selected into their astronaut program. She became the first woman of color in space.

And now for the cherry on top … She was the first real astronaut to appear on Star Trek (The Next Generation). John Legend may have an EGOT, but Mae Jemison is the first intergalactic GOAT … for real!
