Mellody Hobson

“Started from the bottom” now she’s here … at the top!

[MONEY] Mellody Hobson is the Co-CEO and President of $17+ Billion money manager Ariel Investments—where she started her career as an intern. The Chi-Town native and Princeton University graduate is a business leader with the Midas touch.

Her success is built on an extraordinary work ethic. Mellody Hobson also has that certain “je ne sais quoi” which is described as a regal quality. A national figure, she is passionate about expanding personal finance education and created the ABC television show “Unbroke: What You Need To Know About Money.”

Other business leaders also recognize that Mellody Hobson is “Money.” She sits on the Board of Directors of public companies including S&P 500 constituents: JPMorgan Chase, and Starbucks. Mellody Hobson previously served on the boards of Estée Lauder and Dreamworks Animation. She is also the first African-American woman to be named Chair of the Board of Directors of the Economic Club of Chicago.

Back in 2008, President Obama worked out of Mellody Hobson’s firm’s offices (for a period of time).  Daammnnn … Special Ed was right. She’s “Got It Made.”
